Women: Take Five Steps to Better Health
Whether at work or at home, women often take care of others before themselves. In fact, according to a 2017 “Women’s Wellness Report” from Everyday Health, 76% of the 3,000 women participants said they were more likely to put their own personal needs after someone else’s.
National Women’s Health Week (May 13-19) reminds women to make their health a priority and build positive health habits for life.
These five steps can help improve physical and mental health:
- Visit a doctor or nurse for a well-woman visit (checkup) and preventive screenings.
- Get active.
- Eat healthy.
- Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
- Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, texting while driving, and not wearing a seat belt or bicycle helmet.
These steps can help provide a lifetime of good health. Additional steps women can take based on age can be found at https://www.womenshealth.gov/nwhw/by-age.
