Turkey Fryer Tips
Thanksgiving is upon us! While we know deep-frying isn’t the healthiest way to eat, it sure is tasty.
In fact, while deep-frying your own turkey sounds good, it can be risky.
If you must use a turkey fryer this year, follow these tips:
- Many fryers tip over easily. Keep pets and children away.
- Do not overfill – the hot oil can spill.
- Watch the fryer at all times. Most do not have a temperature control, so the oil will continue to heat until it catches fire.
- Make sure the turkey is completely thawed before frying. Thaw 24 hours for every 5 pounds in weight.
- Be careful with marinades. Oil and water don’t mix, so they could cause a fire or even an explosion.
